Save Your Photographs Day
Newborn Photographer Fareham shared the important of saving your photographs….Did you know that Save Your Photographs Day is on the last Saturday in September? It’s a day to remind us how special photographic memories are, and to keep them safe whether that’s as a digital backup file or as printed photographs. It’s certainly a day that really means a lot to me.
Being a photographer for over 20 years now, I feel so privileged to have been able to have captured so many amazing memories for so many families. Whether a wedding, a family portrait session or a newborn baby, every photography experience has always been one to remember. The newborn baby photographs are always very special to the parents as there is only a very short timescale to capture their little one within the first two weeks of being born. Having a newborn baby is such a special time in any parent’s life, and my visiting parents truly love the cute newborn photographs I create.
Scanning or Printing
Save Your Photographs Day encourages people to take time to protect their photographs. One suggestion is to start scanning old printed photographs. Quite a few years ago, I took on the mammoth task of scanning all my printed photographs. Some of my printed photographs got lost in some of my many moves, so I am so glad I have them digitally now. They’re backed up on the iCloud. Saying that though, I do have a treasured album with all my special printed photographs which I absolutely love. My partner Matthew did the opposite at Christmas and got his digital photographs printed and stored them into albums. I guess the important thing is to know where your photographs are.
Save Your Photographs Day also suggests it’s great to get into a habit of documenting photographs with names and dates. I’m very pleased with the way I organise my clients’ digital images. I keep them by the date they come to the studio, so I can search their name on my studio software and then go to the correct external disk drive (which I also have backed up). This way, if I need to refer back to them I can easily do so. I quite often do this when I have taken newborn photographs for a family, and then go on to take photos of their little baby brother or sister a few years later at my lovely newborn photography studio at Cams Hall. I just love comparing how similar the babies are.
One of my favourite products that I sell in my studio is the beautiful folio box. It comes with either a 20-page album or 10 printed matted photographs. It’s the perfect product for you to have printed photographs to look at any time, while also being reassured that your treasured digital files are safe within the folio box. My clients are never disappointed when they choose this product.
So how are you are taking time to look after your photographs to ensure they can be seen by not only you but your children in the future? Save Your Photos Day is truly about ensuring we have photographs, whether digitally or printed, that can be enjoyed and loved by future generations.
