The lessons that we didn’t think we needed to know….

“The lessons that we didn’t think we needed to learn”

Looking back over the last couple of months, we would never have imagined in our wildest dreams that that our worlds would change.   The coronavirus has changed the way we think and act in a number of way.

Is it a way of nature teaching us a lesson.  Were we putting too many pressures on the natural world and not caring deeply enough about the damage caused.  I know I certainly have appreciated the beauty of the Spring days, the blossom on the trees and the Spring flowers whilst out on my daily exercise.

Did we live in a world of spending and having no real money in the bank?  Being self employed, my income has stopped over night.  With little help from the government, I’m fortunate to have a little money saved up.  I’m working on my business in the hope that my studio will be so busy when lock down is over and social distancing is not as extreme.

Were we so busy that we didn’t have time for our closest friends and family?  My family live in Wiltshire so I haven’t seen for a few months now.  My parents must be the very few people who don’t have the internet so it is just regular calls with them.

I thought I would share with you a few things that I have been working on this month so I ready for when the studio is ready to be fully open.

For those who don’t already know me or follow me on social media, I’m Jennifer a specialist newborn baby photographer. Being specialist means that I have been trained to handle babies safely and ensuring the positions that I pose them in are completely safe for your baby. I was a wedding photographer for 16 years and retrained as a baby photographer 5 years ago. It’s probably one of the best things I did and so love what I do now.

I have a newborn studio on the beautiful Cams Estate in Fareham.  It’s just the perfect location.  My photo sessions are not just a photo session but a photo experience.  You only get one chance to capture your newborn within the first two weeks of being born.[/az_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_single_image image=”2055″ thumbnail_img_size=”500×800″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_blank_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_column_text]

Getting to know me…

I hope you all had an amazing Easter.  The weather was gorgeous and got time to sit outside with a glass of wine.  I did an Easter competition on how well you all knew me… I think there was only one person who got it right.  So here are the questions and the answers…

The town I grew up in – I was born in a little farm district called Burderop which is on the outskirts of Swindon.

What was my favourite ice cream – Mink Chocolate Chip

Name of one of my previous studios – There could have been three positive answers here, Berkeley when I had my own house in Swindon.  The Bulls Pen, when my studio was in Upton Grey and Blossom Studio when I used the flat I had purchased as a studio until I moved into Cams Hall.

My favourite hobby right now – Knitting

Before I was a newborn photographer – It could have been either a wedding photographer or a Business Analyst

My favourite city in the world – whilst some of you thought it was New York which I love but without a doubt it is Paris

What is my favourite colour – Definitely pink!  One of my mummies said yellow because its a calming colour and it suits my personality.

I grew up – On a farm

Favourite chose of restaurant – Only one person got this right and it is Italian

What car do I drive – VW Beetle

Why people get newborn photographs taken?

I asked a few of my clients what made them book a newborn photo session.

“Everyone told us how quick the first weeks go so we wanted to make sure we captured those special moments whilst our baby was still tiny.”

“We wanted timeless photos that we could treasure forever. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to capture our son in his newborn phase”[/az_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_single_image image=”2072″ thumbnail_img_size=”800×800”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_blank_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_column_text]

Interesting Baby Facts

In the early 90s, studies suggested that newborns looked more like their dads. But the current research suggests that infants tend to resemble both the parents equally. It is one of the surprising newborn baby facts that will make you shocked and surprised.

Arla Rose came to the studio back in October and is now 6 months old.  She definitely looks like her daddy.[/az_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_gallery_images images_gallery=”2080,2082,2088,2081″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_blank_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_column_text]

At home preparing for a new way of working in my studio…

As we are in another three weeks of lockdown, we really don’t know what coming out of lockdown will really mean to us.  As a newborn photographer the safety of newborns has always been number one in my studio.  Even before covid-19 hand gel was always used, blankets washed between babies and studio cleaned every day.  Going forward there may be extra steps newborn photographers need to take.  I am getting prepared for a new way of working.  I have face masks on order and freshly washed aprons that can be used at each shoot.[/az_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_blank_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_blank_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_column_text]

Photographing Older Babies

Well I’m definitely going to be busy when my studio opens.  I have postponed all newborn photo sessions up until the end of May which means currently I have over 70 babies scheduled in for June.  I regularly do sitter and first birthday photo sessions but rarely do babies between 1-6 months old.  I’ve been looking at the images I currently take and how they can be adapted for older newborns and what props I need too.

I wanted to share with you some of my previous images that I have taken for babies under 6 months old.[/az_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_gallery_images images_gallery=”2090,2091,2092,2093″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_blank_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_column_text]

Most of you already know that I have a referral scheme.  When you refer a friend for either a newborn or portrait session, you get a £25 credit to your account.[/az_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_single_image image=”2097″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_button button_text=”Refer A Friend ” button_alignment=”textaligncenter” button_link_url=”https://newbornphotographybyjennifer.co.uk/referral/”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_blank_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_column_text]

Capturing a special time in your baby’s life….

You might have missed out on a newborn session, but there are other milestones in your baby’s life that you want to capture and treasure.  I’m taking bookings for sitter and first birthday portraits for the summer months.
